Many of you know of Elisabeth Jensen from her numerous trips to Singapore which now include Malaysia and Hong Kong, what you don’t know is Elisabeth was instrumental on the healing and recovery of my 18 year old nephew Nicholas. Seven months ago Nicholas was in a near fatal car accident. Not only was he left for dead on the roadside but doctors and nurses held little hope for his recovery. Days dragged on into weeks then months…with unwavering faith and determination and constant healing sessions from Elisabeth often in less than favourable conditions at the I.C.U. (Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital which is my home town as well as Elisabeth’s). 2008 has began with a big bang (literally so to speak). After the Christmas and New Year festivities and holiday breaks regular students, some long lost souls and newcomers are back to yoga practice. Some renewed and some with renewed enthusiasm…but what really stands out and what we’ve always quietly known, is that it is not always about the place, the location, the name, the perks, the teachers….but a little bit of everything and more importantly what makes a difference is our attitude! A smaller studio, smaller class numbers, dedicated teachers = personalized attention... At the end of the day this is what we are looking and hoping for. You don’t need to pay extra for a private class. What we all want is to make yoga a part of our life, but we need a guiding hand, not only to see and follow but to be noticed and assisted as and when required. We’re happy to admit that all our yoga teachers teach from the heart. Without this connection, you may as well go the gym for a physical workout!
